Anime Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again Releases Opening & Ending Animations!

The anime series Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again anime —adapted from the Jiisan Baasan Wakagaeru manga by Kagiri Araido— has started streaming as of April 7, 2024. In preparation for the release the series released the creditless animation sequence of the Opening Theme Song at the AnimeJapan 2024 stage event. The anime is also officially collaborating with Inakadate Village in Hirakawa City (Aomori Prefecture, Japan) which the show's story's setting is based off. The village is known for its rice paddy art, which was featured in the opening sequence and is currently developing a real-life rice paddy art inspired by the anime that planned to be completed around mid-June this year:

Hirakawa City has also launched a train rapped in the art from the anime in collaboration with Kounan Railway Company (弘南鉄道) that will be running in the area until the end of March 2025. Stop by the area to see it in real-life!

In addition to the Opening Sequence, the series has also released the credit-less animation sequence of the Ending Theme Song, Soitoge YO-YO!! performed by lead voice actors Shinichiro Miki and Mamiko Noto as their characters. Watch it now below:

Kimi ga Ojii-chan Atashi ga Obaa-chan by Koresawa
The story of Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again follows Shozo and Ine, an elderly couple who are living a quiet life in a farming village in Aomori Prefecture. After eating a mysterious apple they discover on their apple farm, the couple wake up finding their physical age restored to their 20s. The anime's official story summary is described as:
After eating a mysterious apple from their farm, an elderly pair of lovebirds, Shouzou and Ine, experience a miraculous transformation into their younger selves. Despite their newfound youth and beauty, the two continue in their cute senior ways. Witness an enduring bond that's stronger and more precious than ever before.

The anime has premiered as of April 7 available to stream on Crunchyroll. In Japan, it is airing on AT-X, Tokyo MX, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, BS11, and Aomori Broadcasting and streaming on ABEMA and Netflix.

Since the original manga by Araido intially launched on Twitter and the manga platform pixiv in October 2019, the manga has garnered over 100 million views. The manga was also ranked 6th in the Web Manga category of the 2020 Next Manga Awards. The Japanese manga currently serialized in Japan under the MF Comics label in their Monthly Comic Alunna seinen manga magazine published by KADOKAWA and has so far collected a total of six volumes, with a total of one million copies in circulation (including digital purchases).
